The Lance Brown Group
This band is made up of three veterans of the Chicago music scene who bring you the fun and the art of jazz, swing and blues. A concert by the Lance Brown Group is a journey into goodtime jazz and blues standards of the past as well some of Lance's satirical tunes that take on the world in all its absurdity. For festive ambiance, the trio provides a lively mix of Hot Jazz, Swing and Jump Tunes that is the perfect compliment to corporate events, private parties, dances, family functions or any festive occasion. Lance Brown (guitar and vocals) has 25 years of experience as an actor, musician and entertainer. His nationally recognized one-man show “A Tribute to Will Rogers” has received rave reviews throughout the country. He headed up the band during its 2 ½ years at Navy Pier. As the front man, Lance brings his special brand of music, scat singing and humor to the mix. Mike Levin (clarinet, flute, tenor saxophone and soprano saxophone) is one of Chicago’s top jobbing and studio musicians. His concert and recording work has received high praise from NPR, The Chicago Tribune, The Intermezzo, Media Muse, and many others. Hot or cool – Mike can play it. Doug Lofstrom (bass and vocals) is a professor of music at Columbia College in Chicago. He is a classical composer who has had his compositions played and recorded by numerous city and community orchestras. His roots go deep into jazz. Rock solid, Doug swings the band. Alpha Stewart ( drums, percussion and vocals) Alpha has been affiliated with the other band members for well over a decade. He has been in high demand as a studio musician, playing and recording with musicians like Tricia Alexander, Kat Eggleston, Switchback, Wilding, Small Potatoes, Bill Camplin and Fish and the Blue Fins. He was the house drummer for the Tuesday night open mike sessions at the Gallery Cabaret for fifteen years.
